“My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in a corner of nature.” ― Claude Monet

The Seasons

Works of Art

I tread the tapestry of fallen snow
That hides the crimson tears that autumn left,
And there, along a path, I see her grow,
A purple crocus kept from winter's theft.
How marvelous her hue while draped in white,
The pearly flakes that winter left behind.
Her lilac drapes my soul with warm delight,
Another piece of art that God designed.
Alas! I will not see her face again,
For I'll not be around till days of spring.
And so, I pause to say to God, “Amen!”
For this, his gift, and every other thing.
For God has brought to life these works of art
That we may know his love and tender heart.

Behind the Verse

An image of a crocus flower emerging from a blanket of snow is what inspired me to compose this sonnet. It reminded me of the beauty that surrounds us, even during the winter months. The image moved me to praise Jehovah for His artistry and creativity.
