“My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in a corner of nature.” ― Claude Monet

The Seasons

Spring's Promise

Her softest kiss she offered me today
When warming rays embraced my longing heart,
But winter's frigid hands pulled us apart
When falling snow concealed the day in gray.
I begged for spring to melt the falling snow
As winter laid her snowy gown on me,
But spring refused and left amid the spree,
Which left me cold as winds began to blow.

But as she left, I felt her parting kiss
And words that set my sorrowed heart at ease:
“Fear not my frigid sister's cold embrace,
For days she has before I take my place.”
And so, as winter rides a gelid breeze,
I wait for spring's return of warmth and bliss.
