When summer warmth begins to fade,
It welcomes back the days of fall.
The leaves will blush in brown and red
When they are wrapped in autumn's shawl.
And as she clothes the shrubs and trees,
The birds will fly to distant lands.
The verdant lawns return to sleep,
While farmers reap with tireless hands.
The shorter autumn days renew
A fragrant balm that fills the air.
The leaves release an earthy scent
That drifts and reaches everywhere.
A mother sees her child at play
And then reflects on youthful days,
When she would play atop the leaves
And laughter rose like songs of praise.
