Love & Romance

To You, My Wife

To you, my wife, my love, I declare.
You are the joy with which I've been blessed,
My morning flower of beauty and flair.

Oh my dearest, you mend me with care
Whenever sadness tramples my rest;
To you, my wife, my love, I declare.

I love the quiet nights that we share,
When laughter lingers after our quest.
My morning flower of beauty and flair.

Each day you rise, so lovely and fair;
My fondness for you I've always expressed.
To you, my wife, my love, I declare.

Together we share this path without care
While holding hands and walking abreast,
My morning flower of beauty and flair.

Unending life with you is my prayer;
Eternity echoes the words I've confessed.
To you, my wife, my love, I declare,
My morning flower of beauty and flair.

Behind the Verse

The villanelle is well-suited for poetry that takes on a song-like form. I wrote this one as a romantic expression of the love I have for my wife.

Poetic form: Villanelle
