I'll Love You Still

The years may take away your youth
As shadows dim your gentle glow,
But it won't change this constant truth:
My love for you remains aglow.
I've always cherished life with you;
For all eternity I will.
This truth resounds in poems, too…
I love you still. I love you still.

I've seen your sorrow late at night
When silence rules and tears appear.
But when you wake to early light,
My heart is glad to see you cheer.
Although your vibrant bloom may fade
When wrinkles trace your form at will,
It will not change the life we've made…
I'll love you still. I'll love you still.

Behind the Verse

My wife and I have celebrated forty-four years of marriage. When we first met, her physical beauty was the gem that initially caught my attention. However, as I got to know her better, my attraction deepened due to her strong love for Jehovah and the inner charm she displayed.

But the reality is that time is a thief, and it gradually robs women of their external beauty. Yet, even as time takes away their youth, vitality, and vibrancy, their inner beauty remains. While my wife is still outwardly beautiful, it is her enduring inner beauty that serves as the lens through which I continue to view her.
