“Seek Jehovah, all you meek ones!” ― Zephaniah 2:3

Enduring Faith

The Night Will End

I've heard the groans of men who suffer wrong.
I've read the falsehoods penned by those who rule.
I've felt the pain of children's muffled cries.
I've seen the poor exploited by the cruel.

“The meek are weak,” declares the howling crowd,
While manly attributes are loathed and mocked.
Such ones impugn the standards set by God
And flaunt the prurient morals they concoct.

Imperfect men can't rule a peaceful world;
They can't remove the seeds of woes they sowed.
Imperfect men can't end incessant wars
Or keep from death the final payment owed.

I have renounced the wisdom of the hordes
And all the carnal mores they have designed.
I stand with those who walk the narrow road;
I yearn to one day leave this world behind.

Behind the Verse

With this poem I present a deeply pessimistic assessment of the moral and political state of the world; it is oppressive, exploitative, and deceptive, deviating from and abandoning divine standards while replacing them with prurient and corrupt morality. But it will all end at God's appointed time.
